Consequences of Direct U.S. Involvement in the Reactionary War Through Attacks on Nuclear Sites
On Sunday, June 22, 2025, the United States launched military strikes against the nuclear facilities of Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow. This placed the Islamic regime before a stark choice: capitulate to Trump’s terms—or face a full-scale war. The proposed “agreement” amounts to unconditional surrender, which Khamenei himself has described as an imposed and unacceptable peace. The subsequent IRGC attack on a U.S. base in Qatar inflicted no serious damage, leaving Trump free to disregard it as he presses the regime back to the negotiating table.
The Islamic regime is incapable of defending its airspace, while Israeli aircraft and drones bomb targets inside Iran on a daily basis. Aside from sporadic missile launches toward Israeli cities—most of which are intercepted by the “Iron Dome”—the IRGC possesses no effective means to halt Israel’s strikes. Meanwhile, as their offensive power to attack military and non-military targets is rising, the objectives of the United States and Israel are shifting: from “zero enrichment,” missile-range restrictions, and halting support to proxy forces, toward open pursuit of “regime change,” as Trump declared after the bombing of Iran’s nuclear sites.
The divisions within the Islamic regime over responses to Europe, Israel, and the U.S. are increasingly visible, though still under Khamenei’s control. A shift in the balance of forces—whether due to Khamenei’s death or other developments—could alter the trajectory of the Islamic Republic in this war and crisis. Yet the U.S. and Israel lack ground forces for “regime change.” Monarchist fascists and Reza Pahlavi seek to turn the Iranian people into Netanyahu’s foot soldiers—Netanyahu, who is accused of war crimes and genocide and is pursued by the International Criminal Court.
The fundamental obstacle facing the Islamic Republic in any agreement is the will of the Iranian people, who demand its revolutionary overthrow. The regime is trapped between the people’s uprising, Israeli and American military assaults, and the “snapback mechanism” of the three European powers. Instead of yielding to the Iranian people, the regime chooses the path of negotiations and concessions to US and European powers, while intensifying repression at home. Night patrols, road inspections—especially in Kurdistan—and mass arrests are futile attempts to preserve its rule against a rebellious population.
Israel and the United States have carried out their strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities with no concern for the deadly radioactive consequences for people and the environment. The Iranian people have been abandoned without training, preparation, or resources to face nuclear radiation risks. While the Islamic regime hides centrifuges and missiles inside mountain bunkers, ordinary people are forced to flee their homes under bombardment by the apartheid, murderous Israeli state. Even before Israel’s June 12 attacks, Iranians faced shortages of water and electricity. Now, apart from their own initiatives—such as self-organized relief groups for displaced families—they have no support to alleviate the devastation inflicted by both the Islamic regime and the Israeli regime.
The solidarity of the Iranian people—against the reactionary and murderous regime of Islamic Republic, monarchist fascists and Reza Pahlavi, and against U.S. and Israeli imperialism—is the decisive factor in determining their future.
Down with the capitalist Islamic Republic!
Long live freedom! Long live socialism!
